Title: 2015 Canberra railway Historical Society Easter event
Post by: saaz on April 06, 2015, 01:28:07 PM
After the Corvettes, how about some even bigger and more expensive toys.  I am sure it was Leo driving the miniature train full of kids  :think1

The 6029 is one of the most recent projects, an amazing bit of engineering.  http://canberrarailwaymuseum.org/ (http://canberrarailwaymuseum.org/)

I can add that as a possible place to visit going to or from NSW rally........and add Thirlmere to that maybe as well.....depends on rally location.

Back when dad used to work for NSW rail I think he used to do fireman duties on the Garratt (still a baby compared to some US ones) as well as other engines.

Thirlemere is much bigger, but the small collection in Canberra is interesting, worth $8 to see. The 6029 is supposedly the largest licensed steam loco in the world - amazing and it is 15 minutes from home!

Isn't there a full size one doing nothing at Dorrigo, along with one of everything else.
