Title: Worth a look...
Post by: Kev Murphy on April 23, 2015, 12:32:06 PM
What does a VTOL jet jockey do, when he has a front landing gear failure?
Well you see, they have this stool, which they drag onto the deck of the Carrier.....

I wouldn't have thought it would have been a big issue with VTOL.

Minor technicality........even without the stand he could still land on the deck ( bit of a bump up front) where a non-VTOL carrier aircraft might end up at the bottom of the sea (worst case). Looks like they need to update their flight training manual......lol

Thats nothing, I've seen a Huey have a skid change while hovering. The student broke the skids with a heavy running landing, took one side off.

To put it another way, replaced the undercarriage while the plane was still flying.
