Good' day
Just joined Ozstoc. Am returning to motor cycles after many years pursue ing my other interest flying light aircraft and sailing.  I am aged 63 but hope to be able to get on and off a bike for some years to come !!
Want to buy a Pan-European although I have had other bikes in the past a BMW and a Lavada. 
Enjoy the social side of biking and touring.  Also being a motor cyclist makes you a better and safer car driver being much more aware of other road users and road conditions. 
Why a Honda Pan-European put simply, whether it be a car or lawn mower, it's reliability.   Combine that with good handling and a great power unit.  I have owned more sporty bikes such as the Lavada RGS and it is not much joy passing everything and seeing them pass you whilst filling up at the petrol station or waiting for a recovery truck !!!

Welcome BigJohn,  :thumb  I was always called little John so I went johnny always with a littl' j.  :grin
There's a wealth of info on all things ST's here' and great RTE's  :eat , we are a Social bunch with excellent camaraderie and  :OldMan
Next year WA has the National Rally so you can experience the "social side"
 look at the National Rally poSTs from Toowoomba.
I ride STranger a 1998 ST1100 X police,, 170k, great bike, I like the ST13 xpol, and live in Picton NSW  :think1  might meet you next year's Rally

As others have mentioned, there is the National Rally here next March and we have a few weekend rides planned through the year as well as mid week ones.
Keep an eye out in the National and WA section and enjoy the wealth of knowledge on here.

Welcome John from Mandurah - Hope you find the ST you are looking for, took me a while, but I managed to get a 2008 Ex Police in good nick. The ex police bikes come up now and again at Manheim Auctions, near Perth Airport.

Gumtree is also useful, I think there is one down near Bunbury still for sale

The 1300 looks like a good buy, it's also has had most of the Farkles done. :wht13

Just sent message to the ST1300 private mentioned immediately above with offer.
Have also been keeping a weather eye on Manheim for Ex Police.  But nothing advertised at this moment in time at the auction.
