Post by: Dick B "Yewie" on March 01, 2012, 11:16:52 PM
Anyone got any suggestions for removing the heat discolouration from exhaust pipes and mufflers?

Bar Keepers Friend.

In the West it is stocked at Kitchen Warehouse stores.

These guys are in Sydney.

It comes in a container like Ajax used too. Tip it onto a wet cloth and rub. Magic stuff.

Make sure you follow the instructions as it contains 'Oxalic acid'. I didn't even rub it on, I just dabbed, left it for 1 minute, them wiped it off and then washed the area down to make sure it was all removed.

For your black or grey plastics use 'Mother's Instantly Black'. Brings them up like new. Fantastic stuff. (Ask Mal)

HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOTH.

Autosol metal polish.  You can pick it up from Supercheap Auto.

Autosol is a good product. Bar keepers friend is easier to use. Not nearly as much rubbing required.

Autosol would take over an hour. Bar keepers friend takes around 10 minutes for both mufflers. That's how easy it is.
