Title: How is your uhf cb mounted?
Post by: Diesel on May 16, 2015, 08:29:04 AM
Can you post a pic?

Got an idea or two, but the mount/bracket for the last unit won't work with this new unit.

Just want to see what you guys and gals do.

Cheers

Do you want radio mounted permanently on the bike and remove the battery for charging ?? or do you want to use the radio elsewhere ??

Post a Pic of the rear of the radio may help ppl  :popcorn

How about a flat piece of aluminium with a mounting hole in the bottom corner the size of the back of the radio that mounts with a spacer to either of the clutch or brake reservoir mount bolts......then scallop the top of the alloy out to accept and cradle the belt clip of the radio up where it hinges to the radio, where the retaining hook is at the bottom of the belt clip, cut and file out a hole in the alloy to accept and retain the radio on the alloy ?? have this hole and the scallop at the top of the alloy with minimal tolerances so the radio is firm......

We modified similar on Sicmans bike for his radio.....PM him to post a Pic  :think1

What sort of UHF, hand held or car type, one unit or one with a remote head unit.

Mine is a car unit screwed to the top of the dash.

I've always gone for a remote head unit so I can tuck the main body under the seat.

Brock just a couple of quick questions asI have just bought a car CB. Do you have a picture of your mounting set up? And how did you power it did you go direct to battery or a switched source.

Uniden UH-076/8 or the GME TX6150 take a RAm ball nicely  ++ then a Ram "Goldwing" mount attaches to the 2 screws holding the brake or clutch
to the bars.
Easy peesy

Paul,

I use switched power to run my UHF, I use a relay in the rear of the bike controlled by a switched source in the Police harness. The switched power runs in a cable to a fuse panel in the nose that supplies power for the UHF, SMH10, driving lights, GPS, and 5volt feeds for cameras and stuff.

Mine is an ICOM 400 Pro mounted on to the right hand pie warmer lid. The hand held Mic is mounted on the lid as well.
Downside for me is I can't see the display when riding and it tends to loosen the lid hinge mounting screwn over time. (Regular retightening required)
Upside, it is usually out of the weather and doesn't get in the way of anything. Volume control is readily accessible. And the display doesn't blind at night.

Far out!
We were just south of Beaudesert at Laravale then. Following a Mr Plod, who had someone in front of him really behaving themselves really well.  :grin
That is about 40 km by road. Over 25 km as the crow flys.
