Hi guys, just wonder if the tech heads have changed their blinkers to Leds? I have heard that they give you a brighter light, but you have to change the flasher can because it flashes quicker. It wouldn't bother me if they flashed quicker. The stop/tail light. Has anyone put them in the 1300 and is there a problem with the Led's.
Cheers Aj. :blk13

I tried som LEDs in the 1100, and took em out again.
The indicators were brighter directly behind, but missed the reflector so the whole effect was reduced. The flash rate was very high, but an electronic flasher would fix that (if you can find the right fit, I was going to make up an adapter lead. )
The brakes again, very narow beam, and the whole light assy was not lit.
Theremay be LED bulbs out there now that will correct these faults.

Thanks o great wise one, I will go and see if the LEDs have gotten any better before I go down that path.

A resistor in parallel with LED indicators reduces the flash rate.
I remember they are big white square bricks rated at 5W.
Sorry don't remember the resistance required. :(

Thanks rendog, I will have a chat to an auto elect.

The resistor will work, but is an inefficient way to do it, as it wastes power (Draws current to make the flasher relay work properly, and generates heat)

Is it such a problem if it flashes fast? It would make you noticed with a quicker flash :blk13

Adam, I added some led's to the topbox (includes blinker lights) and also put 3 leds in the front blinker housing. The front ones do two things for me, adds to the brightness of the blinkers (I think it does anyway) and if the bulb blows there is still some light coming from the blinker area. got the idea from here

TJ, thats definitely worth a shot. The orange led light is passed by the orange lens so looses little intensity. Also these leds dont have a lens that focus the light straight to the front, so there is more reflection.
The led indicator replacement light assys have a bunch of forward facing leds, with a focused lens, they may work ok in the front indicators, but I havent tried that out.(would still flash fast but) There is a standard that says the light must flash at something like 90 - 120 flashes per minute

Yes, there is an ADR that specifies flash rate for indicators ::)

Im looking at installing these

only without the flashing component, thinking of installing them under the top box.
what else would I have to install to get them to operate at the correct rate?

Just connect them in parallel with the existing indicators, and all will be fine.

I have just completed an LED addition to original bulbs as written by 4walls on the American ST site:-

and yes I had a problem with the camera, so sorry no pictures. I'm more then happy with the end result, everything looks original from the outside.
Cheers one and all.
