Title: Top Box Aerial Mount
Post by: Sabie on May 22, 2015, 08:22:47 PM
Does anyone know of an outlet in Australia where I can buy a UHF Aerial Mount for under the top box for a St1300?

I've seen them overseas an in particular the USA but wanted one a bit quicker than they supply.

Cheersand thanks for your answers..

I made my own bracket, not much to it just a bit of flat bar with a few holes drilled in it.

You can easily make a mount using a flat bar of a reasonable thickness to minimise any wobbling of the bar when riding. However mounting the bar on the ST1300 bike is just a little more fiddly then on the ST1100 with the need to add reasonably strong spacers to the bolts so as to clear the ocky strap holddowns on the underside of the rear plate on the ST1300. I used threaded spaces from Bunnings and used short bolts into the spacers to hold the tail plate down and then used appropriate length bolts thru the bar and up into the spacers from below.

Sabie, I still have over 7.2 m of the aluminium bar I made mine out of. You can have a bit of it.
You just need a couple 6 or 8 mm bolts flat washers and Nyloc nuts in stainless steel.  I think the ones I used where 125 mm long.  The cost was under $20
