OK folks, Karma has caught up with me. Three weeks ago, I went over to Melbourne to look at a couple of ST1300s with a view to putting my ST1100 on the market to cover some of the cost. The STs were duds, but I ended up falling in love with a nice FJR1300 (don't hate me) and buying it. Got as far as Nhill on the way back to Adelaide and was taken out by an 83 year old woman in a Vectra doing an illegal right turn across two lanes. As a result, the FJR1300 (pristine with 40,000km) is a write off and my backs done in, so I now have to give up riding and sell the ST as well.
The ST1100 is black with 107,000 km and purrs like new. A beautiful ride with many, many more years of life left. The photos are about six months old, taken on the ride back from Sydney where I bought her but she looks essentially the same. She has raised handlebars, Staintune mufflers that sound gorgeous and the small R-jays topbox. Additionally I got a large, brand new R-jays topbox that I never got around to installing but will be included. If you can use my 4XL riding gear, you're welcome to all that as well. I'm asking $3800 for the ST. Please contact me if interested. Bike is located in Adelaide.

Strewth Bolshie, that's been a bad run of luck. I trust your back comes good, and that you had some insurance on the FJR.
I hope that you can either find an appreciative buyer for your 1100, or recover sufficiently to ride again.

Thanks guys. Sadly I've come to the conclusion that my body won't handle another off like that so I've reluctantly decided to hang up the boots. For those interested, I was quite impressed with the FJR. Not quite as smooth as the ST1100, but it pulls like a train from 60kph in top gear with no lugging or hesitation. I have to admit I was having a ball up to the point of impact. :(

I'm happy to report that my ST1100 has not been sold, and it won't be.
My back has recovered well while my baby sat patiently in the garage waiting for an offer that I could live with.
I've decided that I just can't part with her so she's officially off the market. Just need her to forgive me for buying that FJR with a view to replacing her.

Sounds like your well and truely on the mend both physically and gained some level headedness so some good has come from a bad situation......Cheers Brian

I'm sure Blackie will forgive you- just don't do it again! My Ruby is watching me carefully now she's sharing the garage with Bluebird. I think I'll have to have someone else ride her away if she's ever sold, as I couldn't risk taking her on our last ride together. >:()
Just be very careful with that back. It only takes a moment of careless twisting or lifting and you're back on the Voltarin!

I have some issues with my lower back as well but not bad enough to give up riding yet. Just as well Heather as Panadol Osteo and Ibuprofen scrips which I use. Never used to get any back pain while riding until after I saw the physio for the first time.......funny that.
