Title: Jump starter
Post by: Wheelbarrow on June 29, 2015, 06:52:46 PM
I've seen some older trails talking about jump starters. Now I found the following starter on eBay:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Portable-30000mAh-12V-Car-Jump-Starter-Booster-USB-Power-Bank-Battery-Charger/191496598171?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140106155344%26meid%3D6e27fd795f8d4ea3b61e52eb06926ed2%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D261330521325&rt=nc (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Portable-30000mAh-12V-Car-Jump-Starter-Booster-USB-Power-Bank-Battery-Charger/191496598171?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140106155344%26meid%3D6e27fd795f8d4ea3b61e52eb06926ed2%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D261330521325&rt=nc)

For 80 bucks incredible value for money, isn't it? I'm gonna order wun.

Except mine was $120 delivered from the US , 3 year warrantee, and from what I can tell 1/2 the size. Not to mention a really nice case and heaps of leads.
Lots of Chinese copies flooding the market, this looks like a copy of a Bestek.
See this review (Mine is the Antigravity one) and it's now even cheaper  :thumb

That is a very good price Wheelbarrow, please let us know how it goes :thumbsup

However, like Totgas I also got the Antigravity Jumpstarter and from personal experience highly recommend them :thumb

It's not that I don't like Chinese - as long it is food. But been thinking and I'll follow your and Totgas' lead and go for the Yankee job- just for a few bucks more seems to be a better deal long term.

Don't get me wrong, I buy a lot of Chinese electrical products and they are heaps better than they were even 12 months ago. The problem here is when you need a jump starter, you really need a jump starter and being reliable is paramount.

Not a bad idea to go for a proven product over the unknown :thumbsup

I had cause to use my Antigravity jumpstarter a couple of weeks ago as the battery in the wife's ute kept dieing day after day for a number of days in a row (it had a power leak that was draining the battery overnight :||||)
So, I can say that after a year and a half it is still working like new and I expect it to continue working for some time :thumbs

Cheers

I used mine three times now and with pride I can state, each time it has been on a BMW with electrical issues.

It's our obligation to support our poorer Beemer mates at their time of need..... That is why we need to carry these things with us in the first place!

I have two of the PowerAll units (one for the car, one under the seat of the bike) bought from repco at half price (ie about what they are in the US). Only have used it to jump start an FJR1300, worked a treat. An added bonus is as a backup power supply via usb. I bought a $20 lithium power supply from Jaycar (2200mAh) I carry for phone charging or extending the life of the Sena bluetooth if needed on longer rides. Brookster used it at Eungella to use and charge his phone which went flat, and I have tried it at home to charge the phone and Sena headset. Well worth putting in the pannier on trips, but it does not come with a lightning connector, but does have a number of generic tips for the universal USB cable.

I got one of those power supplies. It takes any cable into its USB output, including a lightning cable. Can be a real life saver!

Today I received my jump starter.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/18000mAh-Auto-Car-Emergency-Jump-Start-Multi-Function-Mobile-Power-Bank-Battery-/371207629240?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item566db2e9b8 (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/18000mAh-Auto-Car-Emergency-Jump-Start-Multi-Function-Mobile-Power-Bank-Battery-/371207629240?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item566db2e9b8)

For $70 I can't complain, came from Sydney. Advertised elsewhere for $149.
Made in China though, but who cares, I eat dim sims too.

It's mainly to assist stranded Harley riders when they get stuck on the road. ST's won't need them :thumbs
