Title: Why is it so? Are some people deaf, or just plain stupid?
Post by: Kev Murphy on July 02, 2015, 12:04:15 PM
Phone rings "Hi Kev , it's (Tom/Joe/Fred/Bill) .. you did some work for me a few years ago.... I want some extra power points fitted and a couple of fluoro lights connected... when are you available?"
Me "Uhhh... sorry (Tom/Joe/Fred/Bill) .. but I am now retired, and can't do that work anymore.
(Tom/Joe/Fred/Bill) "I'll pay cash!"
Me "I am no longer licenced... I have been in retirement over 5 years now. If I work without a licence, I am liable for fines of up to $15,000"
(Tom/Joe/Fred/Bill) .. "It'll be ok... no one will ever know!.... Oh yeah... and my brother Jim wants some work done, too!"
Me  "How plain do I have to say it?... I am almost 68, My health isn't the greatest, and because of my wonky knee I cant climb ladders or crawl in restricted spaces, and have sold most of my tools."
(Tom/Joe/Fred/Bill) "I can get the boy to act as ferret, and do that for you, plenty of tools here in the shed ..... can you make it here next week?"

Retiring age for me was preservation age 55, but I pioneered on for another seven and a half years at reduced hours, until the Doctor veto'd my working due to wonky knee causing me to fall a few times. Have been waiting for a super dooper plastic and chrome knee replacement now for just over 6 years.

Maybe I should take that metal and plastic device, and beat in Joe Hockeys head with it, before installation?
