Title: A cheap ST1300 with 'some issues'
Post by: Natman on July 26, 2015, 12:11:36 PM
Thought I'd post this ST1300 which is on Gumtree.  Its got a few knocks and requires a little work but would be ideal for someone on this site especially as he's only asking $2,500.

That's an unreal bargain.  $2500!!
It could be fixed with genuine parts for less than $500.  Get an electric screen kit and it's as good as a late model ST13.
Don't be put off by the 101,000 kays.  Mine has 118,000 and only ever had oil and filter changes.  Have the valves checked for a hundred bucks if you must, but it won't change how well these engines run.

Some lucky punter is going to get a Candy Glory Red for a gift!

So spoke via email with the seller.  The main is was water in the oil which apparently has been sorted!  I need another surveillance bike and this would be ideal but would have to find out how he repaired the oil in water issue.

A head gasket should fix that, Pulling the heads should reveal  a crack in the gasket. A compression test may show which side is leaking

He indicates the problem was dealt with.  It's now a question of whether an damage was done by the oil/water emulsion before it was flushed.

Also, after repairing a head gasket, why so cheap?
