G'day All,
I just wanted to pop in quickly and say 'hi'. My name's Steve and I'm gifted at coming up with imaginative user names on forums... Currently down in Geelong, in Vic, originally from SA but have moved around a bit in the past fifteen years. I'm a photographer by trade, but a procrastinator by nature. I grew up in a biking family in country SA (I've got some wonderful old photographs of my Mum as a 2yo perched on the back of her mothers brand new Velocette!), my brother and I started out on chook-chasers rounding up sheep.
My first bike was a trusty old Honda CT70 when I was about 7 years old, I've had a love of Hondas ever since. My Dad and brother always preferred their Yamaha's though... These days having had a few different bikes, I'm still love my Hondas, with two bulletproof CX's in the shed at the moment.
The open road still calls strongly in my family, Mum has just bought herself a brand new CB500X and will often be found down the Great Ocean Road following her partner on his Moto Guzzi Griso. Dad doesn't have any running bikes at the moment but is making steady progress on his 1953 Ariel Square Four which he bought as a wreck when he was 17 years old. He doesn't hesitate to 'borrow' one of my CX's whenever he visits though... My brother, I guess he's the only one of us who has 'grown up', he loves restoring old Kombi's, and has a shed full of them at his place up in Noosa.
So yes, no mention of an ST there, I'm in the process of looking at one at the moment, which is actually what led me to the forum! I'll post another thread about that soon, this one is already long enough!!
Thanks for having me guys (and gals), looking forward to becoming one of the family.
Cheers,
Steve

Hi Steve, and welcome to OzSTOC from SA. :hatwave
I trust that you will find a suitable ST, and that we'll see you at an Ride to Eat sometime soon. Keep an eye on the State threads for the programmed rides.

Welcome SteveR, enjoy the forum and good luck with your hunt for an ST :beer

Steve,
Have a look at this one in Brisbane, spotted by Joso. A 2011 with 62,000km on the clock, with a good service history, and just $7,850.

Hi Steve. I often go through Geelong on the way back to Colac where my mum is now in care. About 1/3 of my family live around Geelong. May see you on a Victorian RTE or just meet up sometime

Hey guys, thanks for such a great welcome! I'm going to have to look up this 'Ride to Eat' idea... two of my favourite things combined, how could I say no??!!!
I've been chatting with a guy selling an ST which sounds like exactly what I'm looking for, he's up in Sydney though. I'd feel bad asking favours as the 'new guy', but I'll start a new thread and see if anyone happens to live close by to this particular bike. My partner is down on the South Coast of NSW at the moment, so I'm hoping it will all come together for me to fly up, collect the bike and ride home via the coast. ... lets see what happens... :popcorn
