Yesterday afternoon (17.08.2015) when I was heading north bound on the Deagon Deviation part of the Gateway Motorway, I saw a white car racing up the left hand merge lane from Depot Rd. I could see they were aiming for a small gap in the traffic in the left lane and noticed the bonnet had a buckle in it from a previous accident. For some reason, this made me extra cautious as the left lane was moving slower than the right and I was lining up to be very close to them once they had completed the merge onto the left. Well it is just as well I was ready with the thumb on the horn button and both brakes at the ready, because almost without pausing in the key lane they stayed to move into my lane with me just about level with the driver's side back door.
The quick double blast of the twin air horn soon had her back in the left lane, and frantically mouthing "Sorry, I didn't see you" several times. That would because the thick coke bottle glasses wearing woman, had failed to shoulder check or even bothered to check her mirrors. I was watching her mirrors and her head and she was just looking straight ahead, didn't flinch before changing lanes.
Be careful out there, circumstances can change in an instance.

Scary tactic that one she's using- "drive in a determined way and let others do the adjusting". :-(((
It's one of lots of techniques we have to watch out for. Well done on being alert. The higher position and unobstructed view on the bike is a real advantage in traffic.

I am very glad you rode away from the encounter. Many don't. You had good awareness and it saved you.
-
Now that's what I call skilful riding - keen observation and thinking ahead! :crazy :clap
-
Glad your here to tell the story :thumbsup
Using their mirrors to your advantage is a big plus.

A good soldier never looks back......
The use of Blinkers and mirrors is optional....apparently.....

Reminds me of another SMIDSY moment that involved you and a white car on the way to Toowoomba. Just as well the car driver in that situation (moi) was aware and watching you :rofl
-
That was my fault due to distraction Wendy and I was so glad you were alert.

Wendy I think he was just testing you ;-*

All I can say is that I think we both used extra heartbeats from our lifetime allowance that day.
-
Sure did and I was kicking myself as well. :grin

Well done Gadget, the price of safety is eternal vigilance.
I found the white ex-Police ST1100 was a bonus in that cagers did notice it, albeit taking a split second to decide, "Is that a Police bike or not?" However, they definitely did tend to notice her.
We shouldn't have to, all cagers should always check mirrors and turned head, but nothing beats being aware and having your Plan B ready as well.

Great work mate, the air horn is a great investment isn't it :thumbs
