Title: Balranald TriState - Sept 2015
Post by: StinkyPete on September 20, 2015, 05:39:38 PM
What a great weekend it's been.   Balranald Caravan Park is very scenic, situated right on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River, and was the perfect location for an overnight RTE.   On Friday around ten OzSTOC members turned up and the socializing began in ernest.   We had a friendly visit from the local police sergeant who called in the say "Hello" after I had advised them that we would be in town for the weekend.  We made our own arrangements for dinner, with some going to the pub and others heading for the RSL.    Most of us were in bed early, in keeping with our mature status and tired bodies after the day's ride.

Saturday saw some bike work being undertaken, with Gadget installing some new risers, ably assisted by three technical advisers, several supervisors and tool kit owners, and a number of spectators.

My good friend and touring companion Marcelo joined us on his Honda 900 Hornet, and fitted in well with the OzSTOC crowd.   We nearly got him to buy an OzSTOC jacket, so he's only a step away from getting a big boy's bike.

Kev's choice of camp site was questioned, but no limbs fell and he survived.

The day saw a steady stream of arrivals and by late afternoon we had around 31 in the park or nearby motels.   We had a very social "Meet and Greet" around the camp fire before we all drifted to the Billabong Restaurant for our dinner gathering.   The food was magnificent and the company could not be improved upon.

A few members departed early Sunday morning, and the remainder stayed for a OzSTOC "Bacon and Egg Roll" breakfast, arranged by Pockey, ST2UP and Sicman.   It was a wonderful way to end a highly successful RTE.

The celebration of a weekend well spent, has been dampened by the news of Gadget's major "Off" while travelling home, and you can read about than on here.....    http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=9876.msg117685#new (http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=9876.msg117685#new)     The OzSTOC family all wish Gadget a speedy recovery.

Thanks to Matt and Dee, who were the prefect hosts at the Caravan Park, and to Ashton and Lisa at the Billabong restaraunt for the great meal.

Here's a few photos.  ++

North of Deep Lead, the Old Glenorchy Road, Vic.

The sign reads... 'Bunyip Crossing Rd'

I had a good look, but didn't see it... must have been the wrong time of day....

They disguise themselves by daylight as emus.

Here's a statue of one that was sighted at night:
