Well, where do I start on this one...
We've been renovating the new house over the last few months and during this time my home office has been used as a bit of a storage/dump area. So as the rennos wind up I'm slowly putting my office back in order.
While doing so I found this document which had been overlooked during our move in January/February this year. Now before I moved down from Townsville some of the Volunteers I worked with said I would be receiving some important paperwork from the Australia Day Committee, I fobbed it off as a bit of a joke and said something like what have you blokes been up to or something like that.
Some may know a bit about my background and how I came to leave the Fire Service through a bully boss who wrote a fabricated a report of incompetence on my part.
Now this is important
please don't congratulate me as this recognition is not deserved and is the sentiment of a group of Volunteer Firefighters in the Townsville Area who after years NO decades of not being treated as they should or being resourced as they should came upon a guy, me, who treated them fairly, gave them what they needed and resourced them the best I could ... that was my job as set out in my position description. The Inspector and Superintendent that were in place at the time we more concerned with how shiny there Pips and Crowns on thier shoulders were and had an outlook that the volunteer Firefighters were there to serve them not the other way around.
So
please don't offer any congratulations I'm seriously not looking for any and I'm posting this as " Holy cow that one slipped through" and an FYI.
