Was up at 6am, and ready to leave at 7.15 after a shower and feed the cats. A cool day, great for travelling, only light traffic to Warrnambool. Struck some light misty rain just after W'bool, not enough to need the wets, just nuisance value on the visor. Finger wiper worked overtime, lol.
Got caught behind a
Mahindra mobile road block for about 17 Km between W'bool and Terang. (almost twenty five minutes) This idiot farmer had two wheels on the white line, and was dawdling along at about 65-70 kph on the highway... about 4 or 5 five cars behind him, then me, and maybe a dozen or more cars behind, couldn't count them all...
The drivers in front of me took some horrifying chances with oncoming traffic to get around the slow poke, and then there was just me...(and the group behind) He even straddled the white line in the middle of the overtaking section.
I had finally had enough, and said 'Gee-up!' and 'enthusiastically' blasted past him on the left hand side.... There was plenty of room, as he was in the middle of the road just being a pain.
Scared the bejazus out of him!
Had a long coffee break at Camperdown to settle the adrenalin, and arrived at Colac about 10 to 11 am, where I was meeting with Nigel who was enroute via Apollo Bay and Lavers hill. He called a few minutes after 11, and arrived about 10 minutes later. We had a bit of a natter and I played tail end charlie. Great turnout at Deans Marsh, good food and service and very reasonably priced. I am not used to huge burgers, and just could not eat it all. Had a great time. When I left to return home, on a whim, I turned west at Stoneyford road and headed home through Cobden to Warrnambool and then Portland. Some nice gentle twistys and some fun straight sections on that road. Makes a change from the highway. Met a stupid woman at Dennington who decided to turn left from the highway to enter Dennington ..from the right lane of course.., (I was in the left lane about level with her back door when she just moved over, no indicators, and obviously the left hand mirror is only fitted for traffic compliance, because she didn't bloody use it!!!) She cannot claim that she "Didn't see me", because she was overtaking me at the time? Any way, there are some rubber marks on the bitumen from me, and the driver behind me, and a patch of blue air which has possibly dispersed by now...
Maybe...
Otherwise, an easy ride home through medium traffic, and in the door at 5.15 in time to feed the cats.
Now to wait for some of the other attendees to post some pictures for me to snaffle, because my camera had failed.
