Zero Comms and Back to Basics
« on: April 30, 2012, 12:47:12 PM »
So I started to fit the BikeComms I picked up and half way through decided enough was enough, don't need this stuff and now the bikes free of ????? Intercoms and the stuff that goes along with it. For over 20+ years I've run the stuff and for some reason now reckon for me its all just a wank. Don't want to talk to my pillion as I pretty well know whats up seeing as she's been on the back for over 35 years. Don't need to answer the phone as if its important they will ring back or I can ring them when I stop. Don't need the music from my Zumo as my little MP3 has always worked fine and can be recharged from my Cig lighter. Can see where I'm going when looking at my Zumo GPS. Don't need my Walkie Talkie as I don't travel with anyone, but can still use it when stopped if I have to???
Can use my SPOT to tell people where I am, so going to give it a go without the extras for a while. So now I have a Starcom Digital and a BikeComms setup in the cupboard along with the rest of the bike stuff thats having a rest :whistle

All I have is the GPS which is shared with the car. I might go as far as a dedicated hardwired waterproof GPS for the bike in the near future. I have the phone but on the road it's more for the music as I don't have an mp3 player but the phone is as good if not better. We manage to communicate ok without an intercom.

I use the bits that are handy at the time. Never played music while on the bike, still feel no need.  In another 15 years I will reach 20 years using the stuff, so may reconsider then..

Can pretty well remember always having some music playing when on the bike back to having a small as you can get cassette recorder in the pocket. Just love having the throttle lock on and tapping out some tunes in the early hours of the morning on the Tank Bag :thumbsup

I dont have any of the electronic gadgetry that a lot of fellas use. No intercom/Music/Phone/GPS/CB radio. When I get on the bike Its time to escape all of that stuff. I work in a noisy environment, and play in loud bands, so quiet time for me is precious. I dont even turn the radio on in the car....

Dont install a microphone as it could cause a feed back loop that when nature lets go lighting up the neons would be of no trouble at all   :fp :rofl :rofl :rofl
