pannier question

should there be some kind of straps or netting insude the panniers to stop all your stuff falling out when you open the pannier.  mine doesnt have anything

Hey Simmo... you can get after-market pannier bags for both your L & R panniers... a.k.a. pannier liner bags... they're a zippered heavy nylon/canvas carryalls that're tailored to fit inside each pannier... we have found ours an excellent piece of kit and you can pack quite a lot into them... we done a number of 2-up long weekend trips and found that these bags (mine and hers) plus the topbox and maybe a tankbag, gave us plenty of packing space... click on Search above, put in pannier bags, and go from there... cheers, John & Kate.

Fine if your RH pannier is empty.  Ours has the tyre repair kit, first aid kit, bike seat rain cover and our wet weather gear in it.  So my clothes go in the top box, sharing space with SWAMBO's toiletry bag and handbag.   
The LH pannier has the you-beaut pannier liner bag stuffed tightly with Mrs Biggles' wardrobe.  I have an unused, as new RH pannier bag...

There were straps available as an option on the 1300 but they should have been standard as on the 1100.

On the inside of the 1300 panniers are small loops to attach straps.   I purchase three metres of small elastic strapping (Like bungee cord). And attached it to the loops. Work well and costs under 5 dollars.  I can still put my helmet etc in the panniers

Just after I did my post I thought about getting some of those occy straps

Or tent pole elastic cord. That way there are no metallic bits to scratch precious cargo.

Postage for two using airmail, not trackable , is £8.00 .

Makes it about $102 for two sets delivered; one set per side case.

That seems a frightfully high price to pay for some OEM bit of stretchy cord and plastic hooks, particularly given you can get two new pannier bags/liners from the UK delivered for less than $80.

Heather got some bags for about $55 plus delivery from the UK via eBay.

I checked the OEM bags and N/A in the UK but $150 at Partzilla. Hate to think what local dealer price is.

I don't think you'll buy better unless you find well cared for 2nd hand or jag a special. Mind you, if you knew someone with a tough sewing machine and got some lighter weight canvas it wouldn't be difficult to knock up a pair.
