Follow up on first major stack

What a week this has been, had my stack on Wednesday night and was nursing bruises and soreness, and when Saturday came around was feeling much better in the pain department, so thought I would be ok to play in my soccer team as I didn't want to let the team down being the awesome goal keeper that I am. well half way through the first half went up to catch a high cross which I took magnificantly, when all of a sudden an opposition player crashed into me jamming his knee into my right thigh (it was my left side that did the bike slide). I went down like the proverbial bag of you know what, the pain was intense. After some minutes, continued on and finished the game with somewhat high discomfort (we also lost, more pain).

Sitting at home later that evening in a lay-back lounge chair nursing my more intense painful right thigh (the left side injuries from the bike stack peered into insignificance compaired with the right side soccer pain). When I tried to push the leg rest in on the chair with both hind legs I couldn't as the pain was too much. Then suddenly both legs went into cramps in both thighs, man it was painful, I couldn't push the chair down to get out of it and I was furiously rubbing both thighs to get rid of the cramps. I called out for the missus to help and when she saw me moaning, groaning and jumping around like a maggot on a hot plate she just started laughing. You know those times when you are in pain but you laugh as well. The missus kicked the chair down during her laughter and I managed to get up and relieve those cramps. It's now Sunday night and the leg (right one) still hurts immensely, can't bend it without extreme pain. Amazing how you never know how much you use a muscle until it's hurt.

I have come to two conclusions regarding these unfortunate events. One is; soccer is more dangerous that riding a bike, and two; if I don't want to get hurt at soccer, I should wear my bike gear (including helmet) when playing in goals. Both activities I love, so not doubt will have many more (hopefully pain free) eventfull times to come.

I can relate to your pain, and laugh a bit.....

A year n a half a go, while in Thailand (yes i know, bloody Thailand again  :grin ) I visited Hellfire pass in Kanchanaburi (home of the Bridge over the River Kwai), a place where Allied prisoners of the Japanese were building the infamous Burma Railway ). It was a hell of a walk down to the pass, and a worse walk out (and that was on a made track). I will admit to being unfit.

Anyway, I was buggered by the time I got back to the van, climbed into the front seat with a bit of difficulty. A few minutes later we were underway and the glorious aircon came on... bad move. When we stopped at the bridge 30 min later, I found the legs were siezed, and when I managed to get out, all I could do was hobble painfully until the muscles freed up again. It took three or four days for the legs to work properly again.
