2024-07-14 Finniss Ride To Eat
« on: July 15, 2024, 01:07:01 PM »
Being a sunday (work the next day) and the venue being relatively close to home and one we've been to many times before I didn't expect the ride to be overly long, but when google maps said it's about one hour from home I decided to stretch it out a bit.  I still had no planned course and departed about 8:00am.  First stop was at the Willunga lookout that I have whizzed past countless times before too fast to pull in.  I was on the ball yesterday.

I stopped at the sculptures at Mount Compass for the first time since easter 2021.  I know that because this sculpture is part of the Hills Sculpture Trail and I did all of them over that easter long weekend.

A ride through Nangkita, Currnecy Creek and Goolwa led me to say sod it let's go to Hindmarsh Island.  The wing went over the bridge before last year's Finniss RTE but this time went beyond as far as the Murray Mouth.

Back in Goolwa I snapped the Alexandrina Council Chamber building.  It always looks good when the sun is on the right angle for it.

Then I went to the General Store Café.  I knew I'd be first to arrive as I was over an hour early.  I snapped all the bikes that were already parked (non Ozstoc members) before sitting down for a coffee.

I snapped the usual suspects as they arrived.

I didn't tak any photos from inside.  I did however spot a green ST ride in and went out for a short chat with the rider.  He hadn't heard of Ozstoc so I passed him an Ozstoc card.  He said his name was Mark/Marc and he'd sus it out, so maybe we might have a new member in the next few days.

After lunch it was time for the group photo and the ride home.  No stops on the way home for me, but I did make a point of going a different way to the way I came.
