Motorcycle Crash Card
« on: October 24, 2024, 09:35:12 AM »
Motorcycle crashes can be high impact and cause serious injury. Fast and effective treatment is crucial to saving lives.
That’s where the motorcycle crash card comes in.

The motorcycle crash card is a self-laminated card that motorcyclists and passengers can place in their helmets.
The card provides emergency service personnel with important personal information that can guide first responders to a more effective and rapid response.
Cards are free and can be collected from distributors across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. Distributors can be found in the list below.
To use the card, the rider fills out the form with their personal details, emergency contact information, and any health conditions and places it in the lining of their helmet.
A highly visible red sticker is placed on the outside of a helmet to indicate there is a crash card inside. In the event of a crash, properly trained first responders can safely
remove the rider’s helmet to access the card for vital details that could save their life.
The crash card scheme was created in the UK by paramedics who are also motorcycle riders and has since been adopted around the world.
The crash card has been produced for Victorian motorcycle riders in collaboration with the motorcycling community engagement panel.

A worthy initiative Rusty, what else does the motorcycling public in Victoria get for their $80+ MSL donation to the government (annual I presume), because it sure doesn't seem to get spent on road repairs/improvements.
Perhaps those extremely useful signs warning the rough road you've ridden on is rough ahead.

We don't get much that's really motorcycle specific if you ask me, Mark... :||||
  • We get the TAC Ads on the idiot box that are basically telling car drivers we deserve all we get for riding a motorcycle... :whistle
  • Some boards underneath Armco that are supposedly motorcyclist friendly although I've noticed they seem to have done away with the flat metal boards and are now using boards with a raised ridge down the centre of them which can't be particularly good for your body (compared to the original boards) if you're unfortunate enough to slam into them.
  • The levy has also paid for upgrading Armco, chevron corner signs, flexible white posts, speed advisory signs, road edge sealing and God knows what else...All things that benefit all road users, not just motorcyclists!
  • There was also a rumour that the levy was going to be used to pay for some police motorcycles, but I don't know if that actually happened... :o

Oh, and thanks for raising my blood pressure, Mark!  :rofl

2014 and 2016 say hello.

This sort of crash card may have been mentioned in previous old posts but I bet there are plenty of new members since then that have never heard of them.  :wink1
In saying that though, this is actually a new-ish initiative by Transport Victoria...  :thumbs
