Hi guys,
I don't want to show my ignorance here, but I having been out of touring for 20 years and only very recently (like 4 days ago) purchased a ST1100PY. I am changing the oil + filter using a fully synthetic 5W-40 oil and genuine Honda filter (used by the previous owner) and I was wondering how long between services? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Mypod,
The oil change interval that I was using is 10000Ks, but now with an oil I am trialing its 20000.
No need for the genuine filter, its way too expensive. Repco do a filter ROF 135, thats about $7.00

Honda interval is 12,400kms with ordinary oil, but you could do longer with a synthetic. I normally do 10,000kms as I know something needs to be done when the odo clicks over, but if I was off on a trip I would just leave it until I got back.

I do my oil and filter every 12,000kms as the manual suggest.
Use only high detergent, quality motor oil certified on the container to meet or exceed requirements for API Service Classification SE, SF or SG. Even good old black and gold oil meets that.......lol
I usually use either a 15w-40 or a 10w 40 as temps where I live can get below freezing overnight in winter.
