Stringo's trip to AGN.
« on: March 21, 2013, 10:56:39 AM »
This is more of a photo dump then anything else.
As my trip was short and direct with not much to report

Day one.
Arrive in Ararat, Vic to meet up with Dan, who was coming from Ballarat.

Then onto SA...In between there was a lot of NOTHING. Except for a Giant Koala

After a Nice little rest stop in Bordertown

Dan said. "It's all good, I've got this." So I turned off my GPS and followed Dan.  >:()

After Much pushing and poking  on my iPhone mount I discovered It will actually work though the plastic mount cover and through gloves...

After missing two turn off in SA after many many roadworks...I swear I saw the lights of Adelaide, we stopped and consulted our phones re Google maps...
Thankfully Dan is one of those irritating people who never update anything, and his version of maps actually showed place names... :thumbs

So back on track we finally make it into Middleton Petrol station, while filling up we had a brief conversation that went something like:

Dan: So, where's the caravan park?
Me: I dunno why don't you ask your GPS?
Dan: Maybe I will...
Me (looks up the road and sees the caravan park sign right next door): Don't worry...I got this.

So we finally made it

This Bike grabbed my attention straight away

We also collected our Pins from Blackheath and for Middleton and the normal OZSTOC pin. Although they didn't like the travel home and got a bit scuffed in the topbox

Saturday was the group Ride which I found to be a great relaxing tour around an area of the Coast which was just...what's the word.... pretty

Still amazed by the amount of bikes we had this year

So on the way home we decided to check out the mouth of the murray

Then onto Nelson via this really cool Ferry/bardge/whydon'tyoujustbuildabridge

So after Mother Nature decided to Blow us all over the road for the next 3 or so hours and after stopping for the mandatory photo with the big Lobster, for that other thread

We finally say goodbye to SA, you've done an amazing job. I'll be back with the better half to explore this region some more.

We arrive at Nelson and for the photo by the river

We pull into the pub and were greeted by Gary (swoop) and his lovely wife. and sat down for a meal and good chat.
We then pull upto our cabin and another little creature was waiting for us

In the morning we continued towards Warrnambool through the pine plantations... there's nothing like the smell of fresh cut wood. Makes me wonder if the logging companies have to put on extra security during the Xmas period?

Anyway after some lunch and riding through rain for the last hour I was a little done, and only 2.5 hours from home I decided to part ways with Dan and head home. Dan went on to the GOR, but soon changed his mind after seeing a sign for Ballarat and decided to head home as well...

Thank you to all for another fantastic adventure. And once again I meet some great people.
Marcus

Hey Rip Van Winkle!  You awake again!?      :grin

For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott
