Congratulations  :thumbs  Seems we have a membership growth area up your way so we need more events.  I still have my last bike before the ST1100 (78 GS1000 Suzuki I have owned since 1980) so I don't think I can offer any sensible advice  :wink1 but I know the ST1100 won't be retired even if I get something else. I just have to make more space..

Top bike.  You've done well!  Welcome to the Forum, which is also the best of its kind.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

That's great Steve, looking forward to having a look at the peg set up on the rear that Chris mentioned to me, see if they can be raised.

From what I gather Steve the norm is for foot peg extensions for pillions, we need to consider raising the height for the vertically challenged  :eek  Perhaps they could be intverted ?

Anyway we will see, Chris mentioned he hasn't seen the pillion pegs like your new bike in the past.

Congrats again  :thumb

94 model, about 112000k's on the clock, at 103,000 did a major rebuild of new cams, timing chain, water pump etc to make it bullet proof for a couple big trips around Australia, spent $3800 making it right for the next 100,000k, done an 8k trip to Darwin since, still a solid bike.

That's what I love about the ST, you don't even have to do a timing belt till 150,000kms and they'll go a quarter million kms with no major work unless of course there is a parts failure (like a water pump leaking).

they can be rotated a full 360 degree to adjust for height and forward or back, the guy told me he took them off his previous cruiser but didn't know if they were original or an after market, could be an interesting fix for you guys if we can find another set?

Welcome on in Steve.
I got my ST1300 a few weeks ago so I know how much your enjoying it.
Can you tell me as a new 1300 owner what you think of the handling and what tyres you have?
I have a new Battlax on the rear and a worn out Pirrelli Angel on the front.  The rear hangs on really well and I will replace the front with a Battlax or a Dunlop Roadsmart.

Mine has Pilot 2 and Pilot 3  on them, from all accounts they are the go from those that have had them longer than me and they say they will go 20,000k which is excellent for a heavy bike... i had a set of Battleaxe on my GTR, they certainly did grip well only lasted about 12,000k, did 7,000 of that around Tassie which involved a lot of tight cornering, the front tyre ended up with a hard square centre where the harder compound is and the sides wore away much faster leaving this hard centre ridge which was getting difficult to ride before it was worn out so i did go back to them for the GTR

Changed a rear recently whilst in Geelong, the tyre dealer who was very helpful and knowledgable about all his tyres, he had in stock 023, PR2, PR3, Roadsmart and Metzlers......his advise was , if your using the ST as a Sports Sports Tourer go for the 023's......If used as a Touring Sports Tourer go for the PR2/PR3.

Further he stated he would put the PR2 on  as in his opinion the PR2 is every bit as good as the PR3 in every way......and they $40 cheaper per tyre.

So a PR2 it was......as isaid he had all in stock and was never to see me again and could have sold the tyre to make the most dollars on.

Cheers

I was with ST2UP when he got that advise, however I still had a couple of thousand k's left in my tyres. So when I hit the Sunshine Coast on the way home I put the PR2's  front and back by tyres for bikes at cooroy and got my 10% OzSTOC discount.

So far so good on the michelins...no complaints so far with about 3,000 k's on them.
