Holey Exhaust! help required
« on: July 07, 2013, 07:44:51 PM »
I pulled R +L exhaust mufflers off to bench polish and noticed a very small HOLE in the bottom of each can, same location.

2005 ST1300A with 53k stock exhaust.

I have attached photos.

:think1 Question: Is this a "wear spot" and the beginning of pin hole / exhaust rot?  >:() If it is Ill dab some exhaust glue / tape, over it

OR, is it an intentional condensation drainage hole? (probably not... :-((()

Do other ST1300 members have the same HOLES?

I can feel, see AND hear exhaust gasses from the small hole.

would appreciate if any member could take a look under your cans and compare. :-++

thanks in advance

Indeed, it is intentional. It is a condensation bleed hole. Now put the cans back on the bike, stop worrying and go riding :beer

They're safety valves to prevent the build up of gases in the silencer compartment.... :fp
