Next ALDI motorcycle gear sale
« on: July 29, 2014, 10:19:57 AM »
They often have quite good stuff.  For example, my wife's jacket cost less than half mine and it's much heavier.

Their next sale is Saturday 9th August.  It's effectively a one day sale, as it's very popular because the prices are very reasonable.

The catalogue is out, and the items on offer look fantastic- quality and price.

Not on the 'net yet, but here's the addy for when it comes up for 09/08/14, probably tomorrow:

https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/

Their 60 day return/refund warranty means what it says.

The same wayu you have to wonder about their $60 Bluetooth coms sets.

However I have used their riding gear and it is worth more than the entry fee.

I've actually got the Aldi bluetooth set up. It serves the purpose for me. You can only pair it to 1 other but the talk quality is great. Only about 500m range and must be line of sight. I use it for music and GPS via the iPhone. Music is not great quality but ok. Value for money?  :thumb

I also use the Aldi Bluetooth for music and GPS.  Works great and plenty loud enough.  I don't need to pair to another as I mostly ride solo. But it can pair to another unit.

Do you find it's easy and quick to turn on and off and pairs quickly?
As I've said elsewhere, I had a pair of BT brand and you had to hold the button (and your mouth) just right and for the required length of time to get it to turn on and off, just for starters.

Is the volume controllable, Gadget?

Having effectively wasted $500 once I'm gun shy about trying Bluetooth again.  I use the Starcom with a curly cord for myself with the GPS/music, but would prefer to go wireless on the rides I do with pillions.

Biggles. If I can use it anyone can use it. Volume and track selection is via a wheel that is easily manageable with gloves on. As is switching between intercom and music. Pairing is done by having both helmets near each other and holding the ON button simultaneously for 2 seconds from memory. Wish my memory worked as well as this little device.  :grin  The intercom will last for around 5 hours. Now that can be a good thing OR a bad thing depending who is on the other set.  :whistle

Biggles,

The "jog" wheel acts as a Volume Control, a track selector, play/pause .  Short clockwise is next track, long clockwise is volume up.  Short Anticlockwise is pevious track and long anticlockwise is volume down.

Short press of the "jog" wheel is play/pause.  Short press will also answer and incoming call.  Long press for a couple of seconds initiates the previous number called on the phone.

Power on and power off are about 5 seconds press on the power button so you can't accidentally turn it off or on.

I get over an hour a day, playing music to and from work and usually only have to charge it once a week.
Cheers,
Gary

That's one of their great features- you've got 60 days to try it out and they refund without a quibble.

I will admit I think each new lot of gear that comes out seems a bit better than previous offerings.  For example, these boots look better than the pair I took back a few years ago because I couldn't bend my ankle to change gears.

I have the audio sonic version of it.  It is ok obviously not as good as a Go Pro but I found the video quite acceptable.

I have to say I got bored with the whole idea of making videos pretty quickly  and I am glad I didn't shell out for a Go Pro.

A lot of people I know have gone through the same process so  at $49.00 I think it is worth a go. If you find you like it shell out for a Go Pro. If not you haven't spent a lot of money.

Hi Guys and Gals,

I know the ALDI sale was last week and i promptly went there and bought some socks due to all the good reports ive heard about them. I am still yet to try them out.

Anyway today I happened to be in Aldi again an had a look at the stuff they had left over. Ended up looking at their motorcycle cover and was impressed.

Was even more impressed when I got it home and tried it out. Fitted the 1100 with extended screen, tow bar and top box perfectly, definately big enough for the 1300 and maybe even one of the older wings.

The material seems to have a softer white stuff on the inside so shouldnt scratch.

I dont usually have a cover over the bike in the garage as I ride almost everyday, however going to canberra for two weeks tommmorow so left it on...

Cheers,

Hendo

Hendo, which Aldi?  You're surrounded by them - Plenty Valley, Epping x 2, Bundoora?

I had a look at the covers last week, the quality looked good for the price (around $30?), but bulky - not for packing discretely in the side or top boxes.

I should have put details

Size: XLarge
Price: $29.99
Store: Plenty Valley,  I  reckon they would of had at least 6 left, plus Large ones as well

Thats the good thing round here 4 Aldi stores within 10 mins...

Its true  they are no lightweight like the silver one pictured in my garage, but i think they would be much better at keeping the rain out.
It took up approx 1/3 of a pannier bringing it home.

Of course we have trailers to pack these luxuries in.   :like

I bought an XL helmet . . Once on it wasn't too bad but getting it on and off, I couldn't wear my earmolds and had to take my ears off, so back it went! No dramas returning it. I also bought the large cover and am happy with it for $29.99. Also bought the compression pants/tights and compression jacket for $35 each and am happy with them.

I had previously bought the balaclava with a bib and it worked well the only time I've worn it  . . Recently on bloody freezing ride on the way back from Yeppoon in June.

Also bought 2 of the the Aldi Bluetooth headsets . . Mounted my iPhone on Ram ball and connected to it. I then had GPS, phone, music and intercom . . . All worked well . . Could not use earmolds with them thogh . . Only supplied speakers and they ran out of usable volume around the 80 kph mark.

So bought a Sena 10 and the Hub to pair with it, so then had Garmin GPS, iPhone, iPod, UHF radio, intercom and earmold ability. John, Barry and I have also used the multi headset pairing and up to around a kilometre and line of sight, this is bloody fantastic, clear as bell, no button pushing, great . . Any further apart and it's back to the UHF for coms, further away we can use the phone.

I've just taken delivery of a Sena 20 S at $329 delivered to my door within 2 days . . So far impressed but still exploring it's capabilities.

Save me researching it, what's the difference between the Sena 10 and the 20S, STroppy?
