Houston we have a problem HELP!

ok so I took teelas ZZr 250 out for a run and a fuel up today.

after i fuled up, it would not start, and would not turn over, after a couple of button presses it wound over till it started....

i got it back to leo's and once it stopped it would not start again and did the above...

i have recorded the bike, any advice at all! once piece so far is it is the battery?

I'd look for faulty cut out switches one on the clutch or the side stand.

That'd be the first and maybe cheapest option.
That's how modern batteries fail.

Try jump starting the bike from a car. If it goes easily its definitely the battery. Also, if you can, test the battery volts on crank, if at /below 10Volts, battery is flat. It may just need a good charge, or replacing.

Nuttin' wrong with that battery.  It sounds like it's cranking pretty quickly.  Check the spark with the plug out.  If none, then those two switches are next- keep the plug out while you fiddle with them.  It'll crank easier without the plug, saving the battery a bit.  Not too far down this track you'll be charging the battery.

I am trying to work out how to work on the bike without getting caught, and I have less than a week to do it ahhhhhh

Am thinking of taking it straight to to toowoomba honda

I think Biggles is on the money, if your have a spark, then the next thing is fuel. This model runs a KEIHIN CVK30 carby.

Spark first
Fuel 2nd

This may sound silly, but does it have a fuel tap and if so is it in the on position.

HMMM agree Spark or fuel

I think it may have a vacuum operated fuel tap, so lift the tank and check the vacuum tube is attached and not split, while your there check for spark.

All the gear/clutch interlocks usually stop crank as well so they seem out. teh "kill" switch may be worth checking.

Check that the fuel breather tube is not blocked.   If the tank is full and the breather blocked, the engine will run for a while and then conk or not start at all.   Squirt a bit of WD40 into the breather at the filler end, gently blow a little compressed air into the breather and watch for WD40 dribbling out the bottom.

Well get this....went to Leo's place armed with all the information and advice I had been given here and on the zzr owners forum....

And...

Apart from it being a little difficult to start because it was cold, bike ran perfectly, rode it around the streets for ten min, fine, not a skip, so I have no idea, we in some carby cleaner to just give it a flush through anyway....

Bloody bikes...
