Ignition ON Power

I have a Police model ST1100. I need to power a number of farkels when the ignition is on only. Can you please advise where is the best place to source this power (ie wire location and colour).

Wow, how long is a piece of string???

There are many ways to do it, and the 1100P makes some of the easy.  I have used one of the wires in the cluster under the seat to energise a relay that is powered from the battery for  some of my stuff.

If I remember, I will have a look later and let you know which wire I used.

If you have a look in the 1100 section, you wil  find a thread about the 1100P switches and wiring, that will show where you can find power in the 9 pin plug

i dont have the 1100p but my farkles are powered by the direct line off the battery through a relay activated by the ignition

I wasn't that keen to use a relay.
Is there an only ignition on power source, that would allow a reasonable drain or should I really be looking at a relay setup?
In the wiring diagram it appears that there should be the connection I am seeking from one of the wires in the fusebox. That's the Main Fuses "G" - And where exactly would I find those?

It all depends on what you are planning to drive off the switched circuit. I used the relay to feed a 15 amp fuse protected line to supply another fuse bank that feeds my Horn, CB, and other stuff.  The 9 pin and the six pin plugs under the seat  have a switched 10 amp line each, the six pin one is also controlled by the number 5 switch on the right block ( is used for tuning the Siren electronic pack on)

Well to be truthful I did find an active wire on the left side of the airfilter that worked fine initially for my Stereo, until it blew a fuse and killed my hazard flasher.

Both the power feeds are controlled by the ignition, through the siren relay and the strobe relay

The two relays you mention - are these in the rear or behind the headlight?

As to strobes - Yes, I do love flashing lights....

Got pulled up for RBT the other night on the way from dropping of the XVS1300 to new owner and the  asked if my bike was an ex police .... told him yes but someone stole the red and blue indicators ... asked him if he could lend me some more....   not impressed .....

thats because the police know they are not indicators and you are taking the p*ss. I have strobes too, just waiting for new led ones then i'll look better than your christmas tree.

So, despite my original comment I ended up running a thick cable from the battery and found a ignition wire in the police loom and hooked up both with a relay. I now have a bank of constant power and ignition power points should I need them in the future. Thanks to all.
