Just thinking...

Just sitting here thinking at the world, how all of us ride together, or by ourselves, and the different thoughts we all have to motorcycling.

Found this picture going through my photo bucket, and it kind of sums up riding in my head a little, this is on my way from from national rally, helping Shiney complete his first 1,000km day, it was about 9pm at night, at the BP about 80km from home, stopped for an average coffee, an average pie, but feeling very satisfied with my day....and even though i was tired, i was sitting in the gutter planning my next ride....

My first ride away on my Silverwing and waking up early in the morning.. somewhere I haven't been before... climbing from my tent, making brekkie and packing the bike.. to head in whatever direction I wanted.. finding new roads to explore..

Otherwise.. if I am traveling a long way on roads that I have traveled before.. I feel a bit awkward.. like 'why am I doing this?' but soon I am in the swing of it and not wanting to stop.. even tho I am maverick riding..

Sort of wish that I could head west and keep riding because all of my travels have been in the eastern states so far...
I have never done any longer distance stuff with other riders.. not sure what I feel about that.

I still feel a rush of excitement every time I jump on the bike, and hope I never loose that feeling.

I sold my last bike last October, then everyday I thought about not having a bike.  Each day got harder and I became more miserable.  Then three weeks ago I found an ST1300A.  I had to make it mine.  I picked up the keys and thought I'm back.  Now everyday I think "This is living today, I can't wait for tomorrow."  I don't know where I I'll be riding tomorrow but I can't wait for the ride to get there.

I have found that since finishing work I am nowhere as near desperate to HAVE to get on the bike at the weekend to regain my sanity in some fashion.  I can now go for a while without a bike 'fix' and still be somewhat normal.  But when I plan rides, then get on the bike, the road, destination, people to meet tend to just feel like the most natural thing in the world.

I am with Saaz, being retired I think nice day, jump on the bike and go somewhere, then home again.

I have been riding up the mountain range out the back of my place to one of my fave coffee stops when I've been getting the chance lately - doesn't get mush better than a beautiful fine day, and the fresh air of the forest, and a great little mountain brekky half way through the ride!

Being retired I'm able to ride almost any day I choose, some days I'm tied up with other things, but most days I can ride. I always get a little excited to know I'm off for a ride that day, or the next, if it's planned to do so. I love the feeling of freedom, the cool air (it's Tassie of course) on my face that slips through under my slightly raised visor, bringing with it the smell of the bush, the occasional buffeting of wind coming from behind a cage before being able to slip past with effortless ease. I love being on the bike, but every time I go out I never fail to remember that there are those who need me to come home, so take care and come back safely!

I only have the bike during the day- Missus Biggles takes the car to work.  It's amazing how few trips really require a car, with our amazing panniers and topbox. 
I get a real buzz out of jumping on the bike to go anywhere.  Easy parking is offset by mucking about with jacket, helmet and gloves, but I can live with that.  If I wear my black leather jacket I can go to the head of any queue unchallenged.
