STig's FarRide #28 report
« on: February 05, 2014, 10:56:52 AM »
So our Nambucca Heads FarRide commenced with a leisurely ride down the coast on Friday morning via the Waterfall Way and Fusspots coffee at Ebor to get our start docket in Urunga at 12:02pm.

Our planned route now starts with a return back up the Dorrigo Mountain to Armidale then up the New England Highway to Tenterfield where we then commenced our run East down the Bruxner Highway to Kyogle for fuel our first stop for us and STig.

Then back on the bike with a little daylight left and headed for the sweet smelling little town of Nimbin  :whistle , in the dark now with a case of the munches heading for Lismore.  :rofl. From Lismore across to Ballina with a frustrating amount of traffic encounted, a turn South now for our overnight stay at Evans Head for 690k's for the FarRide and 865k's for the day.

A 5:30am start  :|||| back on the bike heading for Lennox Head and Byron Bay to grab a sunrise picture but when we realised we had left the camera packed in our luggage (novice mistake) and maybe a little behind for our breakfast meet at 7:30 in Maclean we pressed on.
So now Byron back across to Casino and return to the Pacific Highway at Woodburn and on to breakfast with the early morning fog and road to ourselves, we love this time of day on the bike.

After a great breakfast with Diesel who consumed a bucket of coffee whilst I waited for my skinny milk   :rofl
(and which I'm still being payed out over) we then avoided the Pacific Highway and rode Diesel's beautiful morning route along the Clarence River where I had to confront my ferry phobia  :crackup to Grafton, then along the peaceful Orara Valley way that Chris put Diesel onto after Nambucca FarRide last year.

Now it was just a simple run down the Pacific Highway pass the (honest it was there last week) coffee shop  :nahnah at Valla and into Nambucca Heads for a "skinny" milkshake and check in.

Was fantastic to catch up with old and new members of OzSToc and FarRiders for the afternoon and into the evening. The Coral Trout at the V Wall Tavern was so good that ST2UP had it for lunch and dinner.

The following morning a number of us headed for what's now becoming known on FarRiders as Diesel's breakfast location at Anchors Wharf at Urunga.

After breakfast we all dispersed heading for our respective home towns, we continued South on a rello run through Macksville, Port Macquarie, Taree then back up the Pacific Hwy to Dorrigo and home in the dark sharing the road with numerous kangaroos and one fool with his pillion on a dirt bike who thought it prudent to ride up behind us while we where travelling at 80kms with the road ahead of us bathed in HID lighting and roo's and overtake and disappear at WELL OVER 100kph with only low beam on his very old dirt bike  :well  :well we smelt burnt rubber in a few places along the road ahead, who knows if they made it home ??

Great weekend with 1917k's travelled  :thumbsup Thanks Diesel for some of the Pics  :Blow

Well done Pockey - Great Read!

I was following your route with Google Maps open in another window... sheesh! You guys certainly had a ball!      :-++

As always, it was great to catch up with you, and even better to do it without being an hour out this time!      :fp

Thanks for sharing.     :thumbsup

Great read. I didn't take one picture the whole weekend. Have to remedy that... We did 2000kms for the weekend, finding some interesting sections of gravel roads thanks to STroppy.
