Goomalling
« on: May 03, 2014, 09:47:15 PM »
The first time on the ST in four weeks.

I'm going to Goomalling. It's about 45 km north of Northam. Having food at Go Cafe.
I'm leaving Armadale at 7.30. If your interested come along. I know it's short notice. I'm going.

"Goomalling"! That raised my curiosity antenna!
I'd heard of Geo-caching, and Paintballing and thought this sounded like the latest craze.
Turns out it's a weird WA place name!
At least a lot of WA place names are unique in Oz, unlike so many duplicates on the east coast.
Basically, think up a syllable or two and put "up" on the end and you're set.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

350km and breakfast part way through.
There is some amazing scenery in the central wheatbelt areas.
