DOC is no More.

OK... not ST related but today we lost an Aussie rock icon in the form of Dos Neeson, one of my rock hero's, he now joins Chris Bailey (the reason I took up the bass guitar, in the big recording studio in the sky.
Thanks for the great songs Doc, RIP mate.

Paul.

Some of these kids have no respect.

First time I saw Doc and the Angels (the Keystone Angels then - I didn't remember that until I checked Wikipedia) was in 1975 at Sunbury, I think.  I say 'think' because much of Sunbury '73, '74 or '75 seems to meld into one.  May have been something to do with the grass - it was very long and couldn't see the stage too well.

Bernard Patrick (Doc) Neeson, OAM, 1947 - 2014 RIP

For me The Angels are and all girl group from the 50's and 60's

https://youtu.be/5NuofNHKbVc

I have heard of the all male group the Angels mentioned previously but nothing they do would cause me to like their music.

I'm with you bikerpaul, a sad day indeed. First time I saw them live was in Civic Park, Newcastle and their backup band was the "Flowers"  :clap Got Face to Face and more on my iPod and my kids go nuts when they shuffle to the top (in a good way). I always appreciate a good dose of Angels in the closing hours of a long ride. Keeps the blood going.

Sadly I've never seen the three cross dressers with the ribbons singing about each other apparently.  :rofl

Oh dear!  You're so cruel.     :p

I have a good excuse for not knowing any of the male/female/group singers mentioned above.
I've never been to a rock concert. Come to think of it I've never been to a jazz/country/folk/opera concert either.
I'm what you call a cultural dwarf.
He must have been very talented because they don't generally hand out OAMs to musicians.

and when they do, sometimes other recipients hand theirs back. Remember the Beatles' MBEs?

You came "close" to going to a rock concert at the Snowy ride, Lionel!  ;-*

And who was playing that year? Well, it was none other than The Angels, but without Doc up front at that time  :thumbsup

It is sad to hear of his passing.   I never had the chance to see the Angles, but was lucky enough to have met him in Dilli, East Timor in 1999,   He was part of John Farnham's Tour of Duty with a few other celeb's who came over at christmas to entertain the troops and I was part of their Personal Protection Detail.  I didn't know until then that he had actually served in the Army and was eventually awarded the Australian Defence Medal in 2009.   It was funny really, because when he stood beside Kylie Minogue, who was all of 5'2" he towered over her at around 6'6" or more.   Just had a little trip down memory lane.
Cheers

I used to see the at Caringbah Pub as a teenager. Along with those other little known bands AC DC and Inxs.

Chanted the response to "Am I ever gunna see you face again" many times.

Hell how old was he?  He couldn't have been much older than me!

I was VERY lucky... I saw then in 1979 at Illawarra Leagues club, I was 19 and couldn't hear for 3 days after. Saw then again in 2012 it Davistown RSL on the central coast NSW. The Brewester bros were doing vocals as the rift with Doc was ongoing... best part of the show, besides all of it... was afterwards I got sit and have a chat with one of my childhood bass hero's Chris Bailey (RIP). THE nicest rock God I have ever met. RIP Doc...
