What an awesome adventure thanks for sharing, I was planning on going to Bridport, people tell me its pretty... hmmm

The old dear at the Pavillion Visitor Information Centre (Google photo) was telling me some facts, something like (keep in mind that the numbers in my head are all jumbled):
*  Permanent population is around 1,500
*  Holiday population soars to over 5,000 - lots of houses, but mostly empty.
*  Infrastructure, shops, facilities pub, adequate for permanent population, very very long queues on holiday periods.

Neat and tidy - Yes!

Pretty - Yes!  Others I've talked have said pretty boring , I think that's probably unfair.

Good bakery - Yes!!!

Friendly people in the Pavillion Visitor Information Centre - Yes!  Just make sure you don't succumb the old dear's advances.

Avoid Waterhouse Road (the road to Gladstone) - unless you like the gravel.
Cheers,  Williamson (AKA Michael)

Nice.. the Ida Bay Railway. Rough old noisy ride isnt it, but the views are great.
