Got some deep trenches in the back yard that need filling, got any neighbours you want to get rid of.

Mrs HOFFY is behaving herself now so there is an extra space.

No only joking, Mrs HOFFY is the one mixing the mud so I have to keep her.

What was the condition of the old thermostat, any rubbish in the water, was it partially open all the time, did you test it in hot water to see if it opened and closed?

I know with the car, also fuel injected, that if the thermostat is open all the time, the choke system keeps working and you can smell unburnt fuel all the time.

On the border run your bike was running smooth and there was no hint of the unburnt fuel.

Hope the problem was the thermostat and it is now fixed.

WOMBAT changed his thermostat a few weeks ago and the outside of the cover looked a 100 years old but on the inside, it looked brand new, the thought being the only coolant was used with no added water.

Hoffy it's a problem with some 1300's that the thermostats get stuck open and bad fuel usage is the main symptom and dancing temp bars on the dash once I had my housing apart and pulled my thermostat out is was in the fully open position on full cold motor so new one in and coolant flush done and road test tomorrow

Some say paint flakes from inside radiator causes it and I had some in my housing floating a very small amount maybe it

Thanks to the internet again for information on this known issue on the 1300 bikes

Good news.

Good luck with the ride then and I hope someone will be able to keep you company                    or                you could always just sing inside your helmet.

Great ride out this morning with Johno and Bodie John's son on their lovely sounding Harley's

It's with great news my fuel usage is back to normal and the 1300 is running sweet again 310kms on half a tank and dash is reading 19.5 kms per litre  :like

Oh maybe I should wash it now still has border run bugs on it

It would have been a tough ride with 2 Harleys slowing things up.
