question from the manual
« on: April 22, 2015, 10:47:12 AM »
A question regarding the manual and types of bike.

on page 1-4 of the manual for the ST11 it gives some weight info on the bikes but it has some classifications that I am unsure about.

It talks about:

 49 state type
 California type
 Canada type.

Now I understand that these are North American models but do they relate to Australian models? If so which model would we have been provided with?

I have a 1999 ST1100A - the ABS model.

Here is an small extract from the manual as an example.

Curb weight
ABS/TCS or LBS-ABS/TCS model
with saddlebag
('91-'94) 49 state type 326 kg (719 Ib)
California type 327 kg (721 Ib)
Canada type 322 kg (710 Ib)
(After '94) 49 state type 327 kg (721 Ib)
California type 328 kg (723Ib}
Canada type 326 kg (719 Ib}

As you can see there are some quite large weight differences.

Your thoughts?

Its mainly due to anti pollution devices, especially in California. Ours would be more like the Canada one.

I have two pdf owner manuals:-

The earlier ABS/TCS one (95 and earlier) and 293Kg
The later ABS/CBS/TCS (96 and newer) and 299 kg.

The US/Canada may have had their own manual but the ones I have cover Europe and Australia

I put the links in my original post here:- http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=433.msg104431#msg104431

These are the owners manual (should get with bike) not the service/repair manual.

I use the US one and ignore the US related stuff for when I fix the bike.

Look in the 1100 section, (or 1300 for that bike) first sticky post is where the manuals live.
