Brake light LED addition
« on: August 25, 2014, 08:09:38 PM »
I had a short red LED auxiliary light from a previous bike lying around, so I added it to the bike to keep me safer.   :thumbsup

To wire up the unit:

remove both panniers for better access

unscrew the 4 fender Alan bolts.

2 from under the back of the lower guard and 2 from under the guard

the rear guard will now drop free.

I drilled a centre hole for the wires and 2 mounting holes either side.

drilled 1 hole at the back of the guard to allow the connector to be stored in the tail of the guard.

RTV silicone applied at the back of the wires to prevent corrosion.

I connected an automotive male/female connector plug and spliced into the wires that are exposed from the Right rear brake globe.

It is much brighter than appears in photo, and can quickly be disconnected if needed.  :hatwave

Now I know what to do to the hole that will be left when I remove the rego label holder.
