Newbie from Brisbane.
« on: September 01, 2014, 09:06:06 PM »
I bought a 1997 ST1100 last Saturday (30/8). What an awesome bike.

After having test ridden a couple, I was determined that this was the bike I wanted - handles well and was comfortable for my 180cm wife. My wife had become a little gun-shy on my 06 FZ1.

The ST really surprised me over Mt Glorious  - it thought it was a Fireblade. I'm looking forward to appreciate this bike in the coming years and listening to the experience of long-term owners.

I do need to buy a standard set of mufflers urgently as this one has had them shortened and had the baffles removed.

G'day faser01, welcome to the forum :hatwave

A few of the guys have gone to aftermarket exhausts on the 11s so there should be a few sets of originals around the place :thumbsup

Good to see the old ST1100s keeping people happy.
They do handle surprisingly well for what looks like a pretty tame bike.
You're just in time for the annual Inverell run.  Don't miss it.  If you want company going down there's quite a few going from Brisbane. (Have a look in the NSW events, or use the search tool.)
Be sure to check out the National Run in Toowoomba in March too.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Hi Doug and welcome to OzSTOC from the SA crew.   :hatwave   As you are discovering, the ST is a bit of a surprise package for such a big bike.
