I am a bit new on this board and still finding my way around is difficult. Could you give me some pointers to find your helpfull guides to remove the plastic bits?
ST1300 Coolant Leak
Over the last couple of days I have found a small puddle of coolant under the bike when warming it up.
So I removed the plastic and traced the leak down to the overflow outlet on the side of water pump (see pictures)

So I went around to the 3 bike shops in the area to find out what they thought and what repairs would cost.
1st guys “Des Roberts Motorcycle Performance”
Des advised it could be a few hundred dollars to repair but said to ride it for a bit and see if it clears up as it could be a bit of crap stopping the seal from closing all the way.
2nd guys “Mick’s Bike & Car Tyres”
Mick advised it would need a new mechanical seal, water pump gasket, sprocket and impeller costing about $150 then add 4 hours @ $88 per hr… total of $502.
3rd guys “Northside Motorcycle Tyres & Service”
Adrian advised the same parts as Mick but said I might not have to get the impeller (He suggested I drop the bike off and he could check before ordering parts)
He said it should only be 2 hours work and quoted a max (with impeller and extra time if needed) of $400.
Now the questions…
Has anyone had this problem and if so what was the solution for you?
Do any of you know if this can be fixed at home? (I read that it needs a special tool to do this job, can anyone confirm?)
Or just opinions or thoughts… what do you fine gents think??
Thanks in advance guys
Shiney
P.S. The guides to removing the plastic are awesome, made it an easy job thanks for sharing them guys
