Awesome day! I also had a late start and went up the slab until I got to the Nambour/Palmwoods exit and went up the twisties to Montville. All the way up the road was wet but I missed all the showers.
One small scare on the way up as I approached the Sunshine Motorway exit. A burgundy Rav4 who had been behind me as I slowly overtook a chain of 4 cars who were preparing to exit. The Rav4 decided to overtake me on the right hand side in the safety lane and then took the exit.
Arriving in Montville a little before 11:00 I decided to forego a little shopping and pressed on to Mapleton because I was unsure of what traffic I would meet.
I was first to arrive and had my choice of parking spots.
I wandered up to the pub and found that all the best tables were booked and I was kicking myself for not having the sense to book a table for us and then I spotted it.
Shiney at least was thinking.
The view was great, the company was excellent and the food was great.
For the return trip having a bit of time on our hands, Diesel, Phoenix and I went for a thoroughly enjoyable ride along Dulong Road through to Palmwoods, Eudlo and Mooloolah to Landsborough and then down Old Gympie to Caboolture, stopping on the wsy so Diesel could rescue a tortoise trying to cross the road.
At Caboolture we waved goodbye to Diesel. Phoenix and I then hit the slab and traffic until we waved good bye near home.
Good to see Phoenix could make his first RTE
