Back to a ST.
« on: April 14, 2015, 04:23:34 PM »
Hi Guys,

I had a ST1300 about 5 years ago and sold it to buy a Honda Goldwing. I was disappointed in the Goldwing and so sold it to buy a Yamaha FJR. I have now sold that because my favourite bike has always been the ST1300. I  did 65k on my old ST which included a trip around  Australia.

I have been disapointed that Honda no longer bring them into the country.  However, I have come across a ST with only 6K on the clock and in showroom condition. I am having it trucked down to Melbourne and should arrive in a couple of weeks. The bike will be de registered so I will need a roadworthy and re registration. The bike has Helibars fitted and I was wondering if that would be acceptable when I have the roadworthy done?

Regards, John

Hi Simo,   Welcome back to the world of ST, and to the forum.  :hatwave    We don't have roadworthy inspections in SA, but I'm sure some of our eastern state members can clarify the situation for you.

The helibars are not obvious (like crazy ape-hangers) and if you didn't mention them I very much doubt an inspector would snag them.  At a worst case, it's only 10 minutes work to take them off and return the bike to original for an inspection.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

As far as I know, they will not affect you for a road worthy, and what Biggles said....don't mention it....

Hi Lional,

I saw a 2010 model advertised in QLD with 2k on the clock for about $14,000 . This is a dealer and they have about 4 ST1300 for sale.

http://www.tradingpost.com.au/Automotive/Motorbikes/Motorbikes-For-Sale-/HONDA/ST1300/2010-Honda-ST1300/Nerang/QLD/AdNumber=FQCB2J

Probably worth a look.

Simo, if your bike is in Brissy, I would be happy to ride it down for you and you can send me back on a cheap flight, May be cheaper than trucking it down  :whistle

Thanks for the offer. However, I am going up next week to have a look at the bike and I have already organised the trucking etc.

Appreciate the offer.

Welcome simo!

Great find. Gee that 2010 for $13,990 is tempting.
Cheers,
Gary

Thanks Gary,

When I get my bike down I wouldn't mind meeting up with some other ST owners. I had a look at the map and there seems to be a few around my area. I have met a few on my rides over the years when I had the Goldwing and FJR so I may even know some or at least met them.
