F1 warning light - code 26 Right Knock Sensor Issues
« on: July 11, 2015, 11:07:55 AM »
I have a 2005 ST 1300 with only 27000 klms on the clock, recently the F1 light came on. I took it to the local Honda Dealer who reset the code and told me its the right knock sensor, code 26 Cost $136.00. Two days later same thing happened, the light only comes on after about
100 kms of travel,
Has anyone else had this issue and is it easily rectified or more like a major problem, I'm not game to ride the bike much incase I do major damage to the motor.
Not having much luck with the Honda Dealer.
Any advise greatly appreciated

Gray71,

Do you find you have a hot ST1300 ?? Some ppl complain of hot legs, groin from the engine heat.....this can be a clue to the knock sensor fault......not the sensor but the wiring to the sensor getting hot (melting even)  ;-*

But the 5 ways is perhaps the most common ST1300 F1 fault  :thumbsup

Hi Chris,

Yeah I have noticed it's running a lot hotter that it used too, the temp gauge on the dash is always in the normal range, but yeah over the past six months I've noticed the heat on the legs a lot more.

The fix on the later models was just a highly technical "thing-a-magig" that kept the wire away from the engine and headers...... :eek
