I looked at all the options for an older rider

and finally decided on a Yamaha 1200 ST

. The return trip to Toowoomba and several on and off road trips since certainly validated my choice.

Standard 260kg Shaft drive , 6 speed, cruise control, abs, traction control, 2 throttle modes, heated grips, fly by wire, 23lt tank, luggage and electronic suspension all for around $24,000.
No more problems with roadworks, poorly maintained Australian Roads that are only going to get worse

, or dirt road short cuts.
Comfortable for me with a great riding position and great handling my ST 1300 was giving me thigh cramps.

Economical and smooth with an inline 1200cc twin and a 270 degree crank throw ( same as the TDM and TRX ).
The big advantages of riding dirt roads in WA are they are well maintained and sometimes smoother than than some of the sealed roads, not much traffic or trucks, and no Radar traps.

Basically what I am saying is there are more options out there, not every town has a Triumph, BMW, or Harley dealer. But most have Honda, Yamaha or Suzuki dealers.
