VIC - Country Vic - Holden SS sportwagon

The SS will be handy mate with that nice long wagon turret......we will be able to throw the commy into the creek crossings so we in 4WD's don't have to get our tyres wet driving across :nahnah

Wilpena Pound is on our to-do list.....so was the old Sky walk track before it closed  :-[
Most good for most amount of people will be the problem with the flinders ranges for this project if we can get the interest to put the time into it.....but you could take us through there some time  ;-*

 :popcorn

++  Wilpena Pound is "Tourist Central" and not my favorite place.   However, I know some great camping spots and free 4WD tracks, and am keen to try the new SkyTrek.

As we are a distance from a central area it may work on the way to or from other trip

I love the Flinders. Haven't been to the northern part, yet.
Is the new Skytrek a different location? I' guessing it is.

The most spectacular part of the old SkyTrek track was closed over an access issue, as it went through a reserve, so the new SkyTrek incorporates parts of the old, and new sections.   It's all still on Willow Springs Station in the Flinders Ranges, which has various levels of accommodation available.  Have a look at  http://www.skytrekwillowsprings.com.au/  for further information.

Based on the interest we have had so far and the location of the members it seams a location around the Brindabella's or Kosciusko NP would be most central.....do others concur ??

I have only driven a day trip into the Brindy's when visiting Canberra and it was more hardcore tracks than we would be looking for..... but it would be down to Saaz and Lionel as the locals to do their home work on the region  ;-*

There are a number of campsites around WeeJasper . . Micalong Creek is nice . . And there are others . . Fishing, caving, riding, walking campfires etc . . . One of many weekend getaways in this region . .

Great to see some interest here on a variation of a traditional RTE.....

Is camping a preferred option for all participants or a combination of Camp/Cabins at a central location with day trips over a day or two out into the Wild a better option for the majority ??

As mentioned above nothing to hardcore but minimum requirement of a standard 4WD with low range.....won't be Subaru or Soft roader territory  :Stirpot

Definitely camping. Either stop in one place and do explorations or drive-camp-drive etc.

I could be interested,  Depending on where and when due to distance for me to travel to anywhere already mentioned it would almost have to be a FTDTE for me (fly to drive to eat).

Maybe a 4x4 park. Usually have 2wd access to camping areas. Tracks from easy to extreme. Then multiple loops could be done if seating capacity was  exceed.

This may not work for many but someone living in the vicinity may be able to check it out.

Lovely spot Werrikimbe......well the camp was anyway. :Stirpot....we drove in after dark one night and left just after dark the following day, so didn't see much of the track in and out.....just followed another mate in a cruiser who had been in before.

I've been along most of the route from Taree to Port and its pretty easy gravel road around Ellenborough falls and sealed the rest. Most cars would be able to do all of this part of the route.
The bit along the coast and out to Wauchope is a main road(not the main highway).
