Looking forward to buying a new steed, and having some time to ride it! I taught my last class on Friday, and have a week of office work and handover to go.....YIPEE!!! The pic is of my last class taken on Friday(there are a few missing)

This joint is riddled with retirees!!

I still have 49 days to go.  But who's counting? (Well, the computer is, actually).

Congratulations Laurie- you have made a very worthwhile contribution to society mentoring and training all those apprentices.
Missus Biggles and I are off to another school reunion soon- I was a chalkie in my first career, and she still is (or these days, not a "chalkie" but a "learning facilitator").  We both get a buzz out of seeing how they turned out.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

I understand the buzz Biggles. I get it when I see the Student Pilots who went through 2FTS (where I still maintain one of the training aids) come back as instructors, and come back again as Squadron Commanders, and even proceded to Qantas/Cathay first officers.

The Doc pushed me into retirement at age 62, over 5 years ago.

I am STILL trying to work out how I even had time to GO to work!  :think1

Hi Guys
Thanks for the nice messages. For those who dont know me(most of you!), and to answer a couple of questions....... I taught Autobody repair (Panel and paint), my specialty was auto refinishing. Yes, ive painted a lot of bikes over the years! I am also a musician, and up untill recently played with a lot of bands based around the byron bay area. So Pault....Ive scaled back the music, and now only play in one swing band and a Symphony Orchestra. I intend taking a back seat with both of those so I can do a bit more riding. Ive lost count of the number of times that ive been invited on a ride and had to say sorry, but I have gigs booked in. A lot of changes happening.....

You will love the freedom of not having gigs booked. It is the one part of retirement I especially enjoy. No roster, just a loose calendar.
Dont just talk about it and plan it. Do it.
