As an apprentice, our illustrious leader was a man by the name of Richard Ferchow (Dick), of Germanic descent. He was still learning English on the job, and of course, we were always taking the mickey...
When we repaired items in the workshop, we had to attach 'Service' tags to the items. These tags were readily available, but Richard used to keep the string for the tags in his office drawer to prevent wastage.
There was one wit in our workshop who used to call "Hey!.... got any string on ya, Dick?"
"Ja!..Ja!" was the reply ... to which he would mutter under his breath to us... "Whadda you think it is?... a bloody Yo-yo?"
