Picked up my new helmet today
« on: October 16, 2015, 10:27:15 AM »
RJays TSS TourTech flip face. Has internal flip up sunnies operated by left hand, very comfortable and a lot lighter than my trashed Nolan.

Pearl white in colour, $150. Well vented, and cool to wear.

Old Nolan had external sunnies which used to collect bugs between visor and sunnies when riding.

How heavy Kev?

A lot lighter than the Nolan N-102, and very comfortable... when riding open, a lot less wind drag than my old helmet

By the way, it also has a pull-out liner which is washable, secured with two press studs at the back and velcro at the sides.

Hi Steve, picked up from local bike shop here in town. He always looks after me with prices and cuts labour charges as payback for all the electrical work I have done for him and his family over the years at 'mates rates'   ;-*  :grin

Ah, so the rest of us can't expect $150 flip-face helmets then, unless we send you shopping...
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

When I bought the Nolan 102, I was only charged 160 instead of 299, same source. I guess the freebies will have to end one day, tho.
Current price of the Nolan is now 199
(PS. He only charged me for the parts when he rebuilt my front forks as well... seals and guides, no labour charges. So I threw 50 bucks into the 'Friday night' tin for the workshop boys to have a drink at the end of the week)

Oh yeah... did him a favour back in 2011 when one of his mechanics was laid up for 6 weeks with a broken leg (I was just retired)... was a free of charge spanner hand in the workshop for that period, he supplied free smoko and lunch per day as payment. I was just a mate helping him out when he had heaps of work pending.

Was funny one day when work cover dropped by, I hopped on my bike and left, playing 'customer'

SNAP Kev, I picked up an RJays TTS Tour Tech modular helmet in Mackay in August last year,  brought it home to NZ in May.  I ride with the flip front open around town, or with the visor just flipped open one click, then close it up completely when on the open road.  The sun visor slider is really easy to find when riding too.  All in all, a good all round helmet.

Fitted a Sena SMH10 comms unit to both that an my wife's helmet, used the stalk mike in the RJays and the stick on mike in the full face wife's helmet.  The RJays liner is really easy to take out for fitting the speakers.

It's sitting on my ioniser tonight, had a longish ride today and felt it was time for a bit of sterilising.

I thought I'd posted when I bought it, and for once the search function worked!

Birthday a couple of weeks ago, my helmet has got a bit skunky over the last 4 years, so I went looking for a new helmet.  I've been wearing an LS2 FF386, and liked it's fit, the fact that its a flip front and has an internal sun visor which drops down.  But I couldn't find one anywhere.

Had a look at a Shark, but it seemed rounder and was uncomfortable on the forehead and back of the head.  Then tried on a Rjays TSS Tour Trek, it fitted beautifully, seemed more oval, was a flip front and had an internal sun visor, so I got one ordered in and my wife gave it to me for my birthday.

It felt so much like my old helmet that I got the old one out and checked it against the new Rjays one.  I think it's the same helmet!  The plastic strap clip on the LS2 has been replaced with a D-ring, its in a white pearl finish, the sun visor lever has been repositioned, and the air vents have been changed.  But all the mouldings seem to be identical, even little things like the front panel clip and fastenings, seem identical.  I think it's identical even down to the little fault where the sun visor sits a little low when it's raised.  I'm so thankful that I've found my old helmet branded in another name, because it fits so well.

You have done well Kev, great helmets Rjays, I have had a RJays GP3+ for the last 3 years. I have just upgraded though to a Shark Speed-R 'Duke'. I'll still use the RJays for around town and my new one for long trips...the Shark is a lot lighter and has better air flow for the ol noggin.

I'm on my 2nd one of these Tourtechs with the aviator screen.

Like the fit and the flip mechanism even better than its $700 counterpart helmets.     ++

I wear noise mitigating earplugs, so wind noise is negligible too.    :thumbs

Lucky me.     :fp

Cheers, Diesel

Pockey had one of these and fit was great.....but the helmet shell size on her little body/neck was an issue with wind resistance in the pillion seat.....went to a Shoei with a smaller/lighter shell  ;-*

I had a Tourtech, but didnt like not being able to ride with front flipped. Too much drag, and not certified for it.

Shark Evo 3 is better cos the chin bar flips right away if you dont want it.

I have one of these and thats a good aspect of it. Sadly it gives me occasional headaches still with pressure just above my eyes. A new screen may change the wind pressure and solve this issue

Try rolling a jamjar on the iner above the brow line, it doesnt take much to remove a pressure spot
