I bought two of these the other day at Repco, marked down to $120 each. http://thepowerall.com/

One for the bike, one in the car. After the experience of others with them, they are handy and can always act as a big backup power source on longer rides using USB cables. Some other brands have a 16v output as well for laptops, if you need it.

I got to use it over at Lionel's places when water got into a driving light relay and turned it on, flattening the battery overnight (it was parked outside). And we need to start to the bike to test out some other things. So on it went, bike started first time, easily. So no embarrassment for me, bike worked, and battery on the FJR was charging.

Out of the case it fits under the seat of the bike. On the ST1100 should easily fit in the tail even with the McCruise module and a CB radio module.

I haven't tried it on the car yet, probably should just in case. If it starts a 5.7 V8 that will do.

19 volts, actually, just to save confusion.

Oddly enough, they won't run a lappy for very long, for reasons explained by Brock.  But they will recharge your phone as well as jump start your bike/ car.

My similar unit was bought thru a NRMA member's discount. Good 4 charging mobile phones multiple times and a laptop once. For a reason the electricsters can xplain charging the laptop's battery appears 2 b more efficient than running the laptop from the unit. My guess is that a laptop has efficiency algorithms that work with the laptop battery directly but not with the external power unit. In other words, charge the battery with the unit and then use the laptop and a longer running time will occur if u can wait long enough.
Used the unit to jump start a medium sized car with a flat battery successfully. 


I have also noticed a similar unit with a solar panel on top 4 recharging while there is no access 2 a power source, eg, an unpowered campsite. Probably take all day to charge tho.

Got one today on the recommendation of a work colleague.  He was getting a second one (for his car, first one was for his wife's car).  Four hour charge time connected to 240V at home, might be tedious.  I expect re-charge from ciggy lighter plug on bike will be more tedious.

We paid $80.00, already up to $89.00, get in quick if you want one.

For what's worth, charge time at home was only three hours.
