An interesting article has appeared in the current issue of the Flight Safety magazine.

For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Evenin' Bill et al...

No real surprises here. My wheel has turned full circle, in retirement from 30 years as a Paramedic have happily returned to fixing up old (& not so old), bikes and enjoy riding em. Spent my first 5 years in aviation completing my Journeymans Certificate as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME), and completing my DCA basics, before work in that industry caused me to seek alternate employment thankfully! (Another story).

But even throughout my apprenticehip the other apprentices (and others), all had motorcycling and racing motorcyles interests. To this day I still ride with Mates who are pilots both past and present, air traffic controllers and Lamies (Licenced AME's). In fact, it'd be far to say, most of the blokes I currently ride or maintain bikes with, all have an aviation Hx.

Gee, even my Mate I was riding with when I recently crashed my dirt bike with, is a retired Lamie...so he was next to effing useless when it came to assessing my inability to continue riding with 15 rib breaks and a punctured lung. He was however, bloody marvelous on returning my bike to rideable condition while the Ambos gave lots of IV drugs.

Thanks for the article Bill,

Cheers the can :-)
