Today's Ride 29.06.2020
« on: June 29, 2020, 09:59:50 PM »
It was too good an afternoon not to go for a ride...But, where to go?  :think1

I finally decided to head to Phillip Island, which in hindsight may have not been the best option as I'd forgotten it was school holidays plus there were roadworks going on and then there are the island speed limits which I find painful at the best of times...oh well!

Okay, which route? I find the highways boring so decided to zig zag my way there & back via back roads...

First stop was Candowie Reservoir for a photo then on to San Remo for yet another photo.

Across the bridge and onto the island...then the turn off towards the race track. There were a few cars heading down the access road to the race track visitor centre so I headed down there too only to be told at the gate it was only open to those who had booked and paid for the Go-Carts. That counted me out so I chucked a U-turn and headed back out.
Next stop was "Summerlands" for another photo or 2.

There were a few Cape Barron Geese getting about there but they seemed quite uninterested in me and the ST.
It was obviously a very popular spot for them though going by all the poop on the road...

Gloves back on and it was off to the Nobbies and yet another photo opportunity.

Too many tourists getting about for my liking so I didn't hang around for long.

By now I was hanging out for a hot chocolate so I headed for Cowes.
A quick wander around the Race Track Souvenir shop to check for any "bargains" and then it was off to the Bakery.
Disappointingly they had hardly any cakes so I chose a pie to go with my hot chocolate.

With no table or chairs in store I had to settle for a seat outside with the seagulls begging me for a morsel. They dipped out! I ate the lot...

By this time the day was starting to draw to a close so time to head for home.

I remembered the roadworks ahead so decided to bypassed them by taking a detour to Rhyll then back to the main road off the island.

I then headed towards Wonthaggi but turned off at Dalyston for another zig zag ride back to Korumburra, taking it easy as the roads were quite wet in places.

I arrived home safely just before 6pm...  :thumbs

I must say, I can really handle these near perfect days weatherwise...here's hoping they continue!  :rockon

What a great place to go and enjoy the Red ST!  The scenery in Victoria almost compensates for the awful gummint!  :grin
I've never managed to get to The Island, but that bridge looks like the type of bridge I love.
Too bad you were mean to the seagulls.  I'm a real sucker for their antics.
Thanks for the RR.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Thanks Bill!

Unfortunately the sun was badly positioned for getting a good shot of the bridge, also I was a bit concerned about where I'd parked the ST...all in all a bit of a rush job...lol.  :-[
I do have a panoramic shot of the bridge somewhere, I'll post it up in my Panoramic Photos thread if I come across it...

As for the seagulls, I may not have been so mean if I'd had some chips... :grin

Cheers  :beer
