G'day STriders,
After the Ballarat AGM that Wyvern missed out on because of a fuelish mishap, his fuel pipe has been replaced and he's firing on all four pots now and roaring with health with clean K&N air filter and silky clear synthetic oil. BTW I had to tell Wyvern that on the way back from Ballarat I spotted an impressive looking "Dragon Garden" in Bendigo. Combined with Kryal Castle in Ballarat Wyvern has begged me to take him there one day with Mother Terese.
Anyway, back on topic, Wyvern's vision has been improved with a new ram mount mirror:
http://shop.adventuremoto.com.au/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/1238/s/doubletake-mirror/category/159/Together with a long mounting bracket the cost was about $75 including shipping (I think). It's high quality and because it's high and wide, sees past any wide luggage you may have.
Next, there's a ram mount cup holder that is easy to access. I found a drink bottle in Big-W that works on the suction method ala Camelback. This was about $60 all up.
Yes, it is cluttered, but the controls and instruments are accessible and it works - I can't work out a better way to arrange it anyway.
Next, there is now a waterproof powerlet installed in the right glove compartment with parts from Jaycar. Bought a soldering kit and thermal tape to protect the wiring from engine heat. I direct wired to battery with an inline 10 amp fuse.
Also bought adapters for multiple use.
The cost of this setup was about $70 (not including soldering set).
Finally, here's a simple way to make theft of your ram mount gear a lot harder - add a nut to the bolt's thread and tighten to the required torque. Can't steal this without a spanner.
